As a working mother of two daughters, Aurora understands the importance
of providing our children with a world-class education that prepares them
for success later in life and empowers them to compete in this global economy.
Despite local district's relatively high property taxes, our schools are experiencing financial woes.
Aurora believes the State's funding formula for local schools needs to be re-evaluated.
Aurora truly cares about the elderly citizens of the district. She will address their needs and concerns as well as address the issues facing the
adult children of the elderly who play the dual role of caretaker for their
elderly parents and their own children.
Concerned with increased drug use among adolescents, Aurora will
work with local law enforcement, school officials and
parents to help create programs that provide help and alternatives to drug abuse.
As Commissioner of the Cook County Human Rights Commission,
Aurora has worked to combat bias and bigotry at home and in the workplace to ensure that all citizens are treated equally.
Aurora will introduce and support legislation that cracks down
on the state’s most dangerous sex offenders and meth dealers,
while working to increase funding for police and protection equipment.
She will introduce and support legislation that cracks down on mortgage fraud predators who prey on unsuspecting elderly homeowners.
Aurora will ensure that women's rights and issues are preserved, protected and given priority in Springfield.
Aurora will fight tirelessly to expand coverage for health and wellness tests like cervical and breast cancer screening which if detected early can save lives.
As a member of the Park Ridge Planning and Zoning Committee,
Aurora has worked with local residents and elected officials to lure
new businesses and help expand the community’s tax base
while maintaining smart growth.
Aurora knows that lax environmental standards compromise and even harm our children's health, and will fight for sustainable, green standards that preserve our environment and protect the next generation.
Aurora will meet with local doctors and hospitals on a regular basis
to better understand how health care costs can be contained and coverage expanded.
Aurora will work to provide incentives for businesses to provide healthcare
for their employees and make sure that middle class families are able to have access
to the healthcare they need.
