Aurora Austriaco received the 2008 Inaugural CLEO LEGACY JUSTICE FUND award on June 5, 2008 at the Art Institute of Chicago. This is an award from the Council of Legal Education (CLEO) recognizing her work and commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession.

On May 19, 2008, Austriaco was very warmly received as she spoke before a group of senior citizens on the topic of "Avoiding Senior Fraud". The topics discussed included why seniors are targets of con artists, the types of fraud perpetrated against seniors, and how to identify red flags to avoid fraudulent schemes.

Aurora Austriaco attended the Korean American Sports Council of Chicago on March 15th. Kevin Cho was installed as the new president of the organization and Jin Lee was Chair of the event.

There were over 1100 Asian community leaders in attendance at the event as well as many politicians, candidates and media celebrities. Aurora Abella-Austriaco presented Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky with a Friend of the Asian Community Award.
Aurora Austriaco held her first Campaign Kick-off event on Friday,
December 14, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. at the East Bank Club. A significant number of
supporters showed up and donated to her campaign, essential to pave Aurora's path
to victory in November of 2008!
When she is elected to the Illinois House of Representatives, Aurora will fight hard
to improve education, decrease crime, expand health care and create jobs in Illinois.
Aurora's experience and investment in the community illustrate the passion for these issues
that she will bring with her to Springfield.
Aurora Austriaco officially filed her petitions as Candidate for State Representative in the 65th District. The 65th District includes portions of Maine, Elk Grove, Niles, and Norwood Park Townships, and sections of the municipalities of Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Niles, Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Rosemont, Norridge, Harwood Heights and Chicago. The petitions were filed on October 27, 2007 at 9:16 a.m. For almost two months, she walked the pavement, knocked on doors, talked with residents on an almost daily basis. She filed with 2,525 signatures when only 500 are needed.
